The HOPE Project is a program designed specifically for Ocean County residents 18 and older at any stage of housing insecurity and homelessness. This could mean anywhere from being behind on rent/mortgage or other bills that could lead to facing eviction to even the folks experiencing homelessness such as motel hopping, couch surfing, living in tents, or other places not meant for habitation. There is no other requirement for this program, and it is completely free and voluntary. We provide one-on-one nonclinical case management where the individuals receive personalized support to address their unique challenges.
The HOPE Project staff will start gathering information by completing a detailed enrollment form which will help guide us in the referral and resource process. Once we have the participant’s information and understanding of their current situation, we begin discussing options, resources, and referrals with the participant to best support them in obtaining their goals. Our peers are knowledgeable with local and state guidelines & resources to make sure that the participant is headed in the right direction.
HOPE staff understand how overwhelming this process can be, so we provide empathy throughout the process to ensure the participant feels understood and supported. Although we do not provide immediate housing or guarantee any outcomes, our peers will, if necessary, advocate on the participant’s behalf with connections our agency has with outside organizations to ensure that our participants have the best chance of success.
Transportation services can also be provided, removing potential barriers, and ensuring the access to the resources they need. Minimal monetary assistance on a case-by-case basis may also be provided to assist in the removal of barriers. While in the program, participants have access to budgeting and financial literacy, employment linkages, online group supports, and much more.
The HOPE Staff also has many connections with various landlords and apartment complexes to assist those in need of help with applications for rentals whether it is self-pay by the participant or with the assistance of housing vouchers. Our staff will also assist those transitioning to a sober living home to ensure that recovery is maintained. If necessary, our staff will refer the participant to other programs in our agency for a specific need other than housing.
Overall, the HOPE Project is a multifaceted program that goes beyond basic housing assistance, striving to address the root causes of housing insecurity and empower individuals to rebuild their lives and maintain stability.
